Image
First Impressions A very functional taster sample pack with a free cooler bag that I'll definitely be using.  Items Included 2 sachet x Enfamama+ Vanilla Flavour 2 sachet x Enfamama+ Chocolate Flavour Voucher for future purchases 1 x Cooler Bag Sample Review Enfamama A+ with 360ยบ DHA PLUS claims to be a high quality milk supplement specially formulated for pregnant and lactating moms, with essential nutrients like Folic acid, Iron, Zinc, Iodine, and Vitamin B6 for the developing baby too. You can read more about the product's nutritional benefits  here . I started paying attention to prenatal milk as I'm not the best eater and I don't have the best appetite.    Enfamama A+ comes in Vanilla and Chocolate. Both are thicker in consistency than others I've tried (Nature One and Similac Mum) and a little on the sweet side. I had to add a bit more water than the recommended amount. If you like a thicker type of milk, or a sweeter option, this could work for you. Though th...

My IVF (ICSI) Journey: Introduction

Image
It's taken me awhile to decide if I want to log my IVF journey in more detail. To be honest, I don't remember too much of the finer details about my almost 4 year journey. I wouldn't go to the extent of saying it was traumatic. I just decided at some point that whatever happens, happens, and didn't retain much. For a glass half empty person (at times, glass completely empty person), optimism is not particularly a strong trait of mine, and keeping this level of neutrality was the best way I could cope.  But obviously I have started Mumming Around because I am finally well into a pregnancy, so something must have gone right in the end. Having this positive result should not mean I bury and discredit this difficult, painful and emotional phase of my life, one that makes me more determined to be a good mother.  To set some context:  Started my journey end-2020 at 30 with fertility checks both in private and public healthcare. Went through one round of IVF at KKH via the ref...

Navigating Milk Bottles Part 1: PP? PPSU? Glass? Teats? Anti Colic...?

Image
Nipple confusion! That's how I feel about this topic...ha ha ha. Bottles and teats turned out to be a whole research rabbit hole in itself. I didn't know there were so many types of bottles and teats and materials to consider till I went in search of a steriliser . All I knew was that baby needs bottles, and bottles need to be sterilised.  I've attempted to put together all the considerations or good to know or I didn't know this  info I found below. Hope it's useful! Things to Consider (Note: This post focuses on newborns ) Teats  Shape:  Teats for newborns are generally designed to mimic the breast and nipple and encourage good latching habits. Some claim to be "breast like" with a wider base, while others recommend a longer nipple. After reading a lot (and watching more Tiktok videos by people who claim to be lactation consultants and even speech pathologists), there isn't much of a scientific/medically proven conclusion which is better, though peo...

New Mum's Guide to Bottle Sterilisers: UV or Steam?

Image
Before I got pregnant, I thought people still boiled their milk bottles or used sterilisation tablets. So I won't deny that when I first got hit with Instagram ads for the sleek  Haenim 4G+ UV LED Steriliser , I decided almost immediately that I wanted it. I also realised from the various support groups I'm in that, like me, many considered UV options without knowing exactly what it entails, especially when it comes to what bottles may or may not be suitable for UV sterilisers.  After some research (and listening to sales pitches at Mummy's Market), my preference changed to a 2-in-1 Steam Steriliser and Dryer with a HEPA filter  instead.  My main reasons are: Flexibility:  I don't know yet which bottles my baby will take to, and I didn't want to run the risk of getting a UV steriliser only for the bottles not to be suitable for UV sterilisation. Check out this post for a quick guide to choosing bottles for newborns . Space and Functionality:  I don't have a...
